I’ve been selling on ebay for almost 10 years now and im going to tell you a few little secrets of mine. What does it take to become a powerseller or successful selling online with the worlds largest auction site – ebay? There are alot of courses you can find about selling on ebay, some are good, some not so good. I personally have never read or owned any of them. I just ran with one simple goal and that was to be professional and take care of the customer!

While most people on ebay might take a few hours or even days to answer emails or process orders we normally only take 30 minutes or less to answer our customers. Sometimes immediately as we monitor our email to make sure our customers are responded to quickly. A few things about the site and listing stuff we have found:
~ Customer service is key.
~ Certain categories will out perform others. Do not go with just the suggested category
~ An inexpensive (.40cent) listing will sometimes easily out perform an expensive listing ($102.60)
~ Titles are important and your wording is important for search
~ An ebay listing can get you listed in google and other search engines
~ Your listing may appear in other sites outside of ebay
~ If a customer seems to be giving you trouble deliberately – just refund them. Give them there money back –
problem solved.
There are alot of tricks that we have learned over the years selling with ebay. There are alot of things that seem to be one thing and are completely different. When buying on ebay don’t hesitate to check a sellers feedback to see what other people have said about the seller. Do not believe everything you read either. We deal strictly with custom websites, design, promotion, website traffic, ect… because that is what we specialize in. We have bought tons of test packages from sellers on ebay to see exactly what they are selling or claim to sell. We have even done our “checking” on some sellers before we bought from them and got the shaft! One purchase in perticular that sticks in my mind was a seller we bought from that had tens of thousands of positive feedbacks. He was selling website traffic at a decent price so we bought from him. The numbers looked really good. It was like 100,000 visitors for “X” amount of $. Again we always run test packages to see who delivers and who does not. Anyway… as programmers we know how to read code, we view the world a little differently that the average joe looking at a website. For instance when you signup for a site or program sometimes you will get a unique link that you can use to refer people..ect. (a referral link).. any way most of the time people do not hide this link and they really don’t need to for basic internet stuff, but the end of the link has an “id”.. so if your member # say 140 your referral might be www.thesite.com/ref?140 <---140.. anyway this fantasic seller sent us a link and we were #13. Ok this frankly shocked me. Tens of thousands of positive feedbacks and 100K visitors to deliver and there were only 13 members on the site. So every member would have to view our site 7962 times (roughly). Anyway its an old story that im sure will go on and on. The funny thing is we were getting over 500 members a day on one of our sites, so in 4 minutes I could have doubled his whole memberbase. Ok enough on that one....
Moral of the story - not everything is what it seems to be, but we do our job, we over deliver and it seems to make our customers very happy!
Have a great day!
